Pittsburgh is a city of bridges. Crossing into downtown, the river is littered with bridges both old and new. They all have one thing in common: they are all steel bridges. The Smithfield bridge from 1881 is a great truss design with battlements and small turrets. The sixth, seventh, and ninth street bridges are the identical triplets named the three sisters, all painted yellow.
