Pats and Genos Steaks, a Philadelphia Culinary Adventure
At the corner of Ninth and Passyunk Ave, two legendary restaurants face off at a diagonal intersection. Both Pat’s and Geno’s Steaks offer the similar grub, the Philadelphia cheesesteak. Locals are divided as to which venue offers the best. Pat’s Steaks, which opened in 1930, is the original. Geno’s Steaks, which came along in 1966, is much flashier, with neon signs and more seating. You have to know what you want quickly, or you’ll get kicked out of line. Its not hard, the cheesesteak with grilled onions and “Wit” Cheese Wiz is the only way to go.
