The St Charles Ave streetcar line is the oldest streetcar line in the US used in continuous operation. It was built in 1893 and was never closed (unlike all the other streetcar lines in the city). Streetcars are making a comeback in New Orleans with two new modern lines serving different routes that link to the St Charles line. The St Charles Streetcar links the French Quarter with the Garden District and neighborhoods beyond.
