At 452 feet, the dome of St Peter’s Basilica is the tallest Christian church in the world. It was designed by Donato Bramante and later worked on my Michelangelo, it was completed in 1626, and a Baroque plaza designed by Bernini is directly in front of it. The Vatican State is guarded by Swiss guards who dress colorfully.
