The forum was the commercial center of Rome until 400 AD. It has been plundered and excavated and is now an oasis of history in the middle of the city. It is loaded with ruins of temples, churches, palaces, and various other structures. Palatine Hill provides views of the Circus Maximus and the palaces of the various emperors of Rome.
