Mussolini’s version of Rome, the EUR (Esposizione Universale di Roma) district was created for hosting a world exhibition which never happened. The buildings are monumental, fascist style architecture, and the public spaces are imposing and non-functional. Overall, it is a very unpleasant place to be, especially when compared to old Rome. It is actually quite similar to many public spaces in the US.
